It was announced that the tour will begin in November 2020 at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans and continue to the James M. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago. The schedule and the cast for the tour are yet to be confirmed. Moulin Rouge! The Musical proved to be an instant hit amongst the Broadway faithful as it began its previews on June 28, 2019. It has garnered positive reviews from critics and experts as well. The stage adaptation of the Baz Luhrmann classic is produced by Carmen Pavlovic and Gerry Ryan for Global Creatures. The musical orchestrations have been lent by Justin Levine. The choreography of the production has been done by Sonya Tayeh. Moulin Rouge! The Musical stars Karen Olivo, Aaron Tveit, and Danny Burstein. This national tour announcement is a testimony to the collective success of the cast and crew.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical opened for its official run at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on July 25, 2019, after successful previews. The success of this production cannot be solely credited to the original material and John Logan’s book, but also to the well-thought-out details that were devised by Alex Timbers of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson's fame. He has given a very subtle twist to the glitz and glamor that is a characteristic feature of the show. Alex Timbers has also decided to recreate all the classical numbers from the musical, adding popular numbers like Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, Sia’s Chandelier, and Katy Perry’s Firework to it.

The show also features songs that were made popular by Outkast, Beyonce, Lorde, Britney Spears, and Gnarls Barkley. This is the reason why the score of this production became a rage and was released as a separate album on all digital platforms. Moulin Rouge! The Musical narrates the story of a tragic love triangle centered at the eponymous night club at fin de siècle in Paris. The heartbreaking story is well complemented by the set and production design. Moulin Rouge! The Musical is set to make its Australian debut in 2021.
