The Story

As mentioned earlier, the play is set in the English countryside at a time when the country is going through a crisis. Due to heavy flooding, there happens to be a shortage of food in the country and an excess of worry. Right from the beginning of the play, our attention is brought to the Coveys, a married couple (struggling with the loss of their child) whose harvest levels end up below expectations. Because the Coveys have failed to meet their annual quota, the government sends in William Bloor, a seasoned ‘foxfinder’, to investigate the reason for this shortfall, and to find out whether the Coveys have been subjected to a fox infestation. William begins his investigation and as he delves deeper into the mystery, he along with the Coveys end up discovering more than what they bargained for.

Reviews

“What did work was Gary McCann’s set, which is split between woods at the back and a farmhouse kitchen at the fore. It created a sylvan, and at times foreboding, atmosphere.”
The Times

“Director Rachel O’Riordan’s West End transfer of Foxfinder strenuously highlights the tension of Dawn King’s dystopian vision.”
The Guardian
