Tips for Visiting Rome in April


Book in advance : The milder temperature of April tends to attract crowds, so plan your travel smartly. Roughly fix your itinerary and book your hotels, tickets, passes and restaurant tables in advance, for a smoother travel experience

Free Sights : The first Sunday of every month, state museums and archeological sites are free. On the last Sunday of every month, the Vatican museums are open, and free. In addition Rome’s birthday and Easter has free entry at every government owned sight and museum.

Closed : Do note that while Colosseum is open on Easter, on Good Friday it is only open till noon due to Pope’s Via Crucis. Vatican museums are closed on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.

Escape the crowd : While the free entry is great, most famous tourist spots are often overly crowded. You can take this opportunity to enjoy other lesser known gems of the city like the Ostia Antica, Palazzo Barberini, the Baths of Caracalla, and Galleria Borghese

Must Visit : The Pantheon is designed in a manner that at every April 21st, i.e. Rome’s birthday and only on that day, at noon the sunlight filtering through the oculus would illuminate the entrance.
