If you are traveling to Amsterdam in December then you must know about Het Amsterdam Winterparadijs which is literally ‘Amsterdam Winter Paradise’ in the heart of the city. The festival is family-friendly, offering a variety of fun-filled activities, from thrilling amusement rides to ice skating. Amidst a sparkling array of lights, the snow activities promise a winter wonderland experience. The festival cares about sustainability too with a dedication to recycling and utilizing decorations from the past years. The Het Lichtjesparadijs creates an atmosphere like no other with its enchanting lights, ideal for a romantic evening stroll or a magical night out with the family. The Wonder Slope adds an exciting twist this year with its adrenaline-inducing incline, perfect for thrill-seekers. Kids can enjoy slides and slopes, in addition to their very own ice skating rink. They'll be delighted to be on the whimsical merry-go-round ride and also meet their favorite Snow Princesses. For adults, there's a traditional winter fair to explore artisanal crafts, a cozy winter cinema to catch heartwarming classics, state-of-the-art VR experiences and face painting booths. Don't miss the festive beer tables and vivacious Après Ski scenes where you can relax and enjoy the wintry atmosphere. You can view the entire Winter Paradise from the top of the Ferris Wheel. Warm up with a hot chocolate or glühwein in hand, looking out over the festive lights and joyous crowds below. All activities are included in your entrance ticket except for the ones that have prizes.

Tino Martin and Flemming are set to headline, bringing a vibrant mix of local favorites and rising stars like Zoe Tauran to the stage. Turfy Gang pumps up the energy with their infectious rhythms, while Emma Heesters' melodic voice is sure to captivate the audience. There will be magic and laughter with Lucas the magician show and The Winter Circus will showcase a dazzling display of acrobatics and gravity-defying stunts. The Warm Winter Stories bring heartfelt narratives to cozy up to. The Kidspop band is geared up to get the little ones dancing, and make sure they get to attend Bing's Birthday party where everyone will sing new birthday songs. Also engage with maritime adventures at the Sjaak the Pirate show or let the imagination soar at Puppet Theatre de Winter.

Tips for attending the Het Amsterdam Winterparadijs


  1. The temperature can hit as low as -7°C so make sure to dress warmly. Layers are always a good idea as it will keep you comfortable both indoors and out. For the ice skating activities gloves will be required.
  2. Het Amsterdam Winterparadijs is a cashless event event so only debit cards are accepted.
  3. For the music event it’s advised to carry earplugs. You can ask for it at first aid.
