Girl in a Blue Dress  by Johannes Cornelisz Verspronck

This oil painting uses a painted design format called Vernis Martin, which is silver-like in appearance. The painting depicts a young girl looking away from the viewer while she plays with her dress. The Girl in a Blue Dress paintings are extremely rare today; in 2015 there were only three known surviving examples left in public collections.

Milkmaid by Johannes Vermeer

Milkmaid was painted from 1658–1660. There are several elements of symbolism within this work of art; for example, there are three items that are displayed front and center: a mop leaning against the wall, a broom below it, and an empty bucket atop the broom. These three objects represent poverty, industriousness, and purity respectively.
