The building is 321 meters tall, although almost 40% of its height is non-occupiable. Built in 1999, over a period of 45 years, it ost almost a billion dollars and was one of the most expensive construction projects in the world. It was built with the goal of making it an iconic symbol of Dubai, similar to the likes of the Eiffel Tower of Paris or the Opera House of Sydney.
