Rome for history geeks

It was an amazing experience to be in Rome! The best part was the friendliness of the staff and how quickly we were able to visit these places so rich in history. Thanks, Headout! I loved the tour. Meeting point very close to Vatican, and very well organised. Group size was excellent, just 10 of us and the tour was amazing. Our tour guide, Karen, was amazing. We visited the square, the dome, the tombs and of course the Basilica. She provided so much useful information and insights. A good mix or history, religion, architecture and she was great with the kids. After this tour,I would definitely recommend them. My top advice, is book for the early tour, avoid the crowds and the heat. We went at 8.30.

The admission time (wait time approx. 20–30 min) for the reserved entry was okay. The audio guide through St. Peter’s Basilica was too detailed in many parts. It would be nice if two versions were offered. A short version and a detailed one, so visitors can choose. The visit to the dome was sensational and is highly recommended.

Pompeii was one of the most memorable places we visited in Italy. Walking through the ancient streets and standing among the impressive columns made history feel incredibly real. The ruins are atmospheric, full of fascinating details and perfect for taking photos. Our Headout tickets made entry quick and easy.

Paula was a wonderfully knowledgeable guide. She clearly has a passion for the history of her city and takes joy in sharing it with her tour groups.

The ancient Roman port of Ostia. The site is well preserved and maintained. Very similar to Pompeii. It is an experience to jump back 2000 years and imagine how people lived here in the past. Highly recommended for those visiting Rome. Daniel

We had booked a guided tour (in German). We started the tour on time and were part of a small group. The tour was very informative and engaging. Photos and videos weren’t allowed, but that didn’t matter—it meant we could give the tour guide our full attention. We really enjoyed it and highly recommend the tour.
