The story
A story about the trials and tribulations of love, Hadestown focuses on two couples — the poverty-ridden Orpheus and Eurydice and the King of the Underworld, Hades and his wife, Persephone. When Persephone is miserable about returning to the Underworld after she visits the world above, Hades heads out to search for someone who will appreciate the offerings of his home. He finds Eurydice and convinces her to move to the Underworld in exchange for food and protection. Eurydice agrees and becomes a worker at Hadestown, the dark underground factory of Hades. When Orpheus finds out, he vows to save Eurydice. What follows is a heartbreaking tale of sacrifice, triumph and the mysterious machinations of fate.

CoupleVerified booking3 weeks ago5/5It was without a doubt one of the most energetic and talented cast that I have seen for a very long time . It's unfair to pick out one cast member (especially the red-headed Persephone) but all delivered performances that felt fresh and joyous. in a word ,all were outstanding . Being able to see and read the transcript of the production was for me personally a highlight . It was like hearing /reading a love letter to the Gods . It was just so damn brilliant. From the staging to the incredible live band it was well worth flying across the globe to see . The connection with the audience was palpable and the standing ovation truly deserved . Bravo ....and yes , I'd gladly come back to London to see it again .MMerlijn V
CoupleVerified booking3 weeks ago5/5The show was absolutely wonderful. Everybody in the cast perfectly embodied their character. And the music is obviously magical. I loved every minute of it. I also think it's great that you can't use your phone during theatre (duh) because you're just so much more in the moment. I just snagged a little photo during the beautiful encore. Lovely experience. I already want to go back.IIsadora V
