The story

Joseph De Rocher is on death row for the murder of two teenagers. Sister Helen Prejean agrees to offer him spiritual support as his execution approaches. As she learns his story and listens to the pain of the victims’ families, she struggles with her faith and understanding of justice. In a space filled with grief, guilt, and fear, she must decide what forgiveness means and whether she can offer it to a man many see as unforgivable.
