Pro tips to help you make a pick

For a full cultural and historical experience at Milan's Duomo, opt for the Duomo Pass. This pass allows single entry within 72 hours to the Cathedral, the Duomo Museum, San Gottardo Church, and the Archaeological Area.

Children aged 6 and under, people with disabilities and their helpers, uniformed military personnel, and tour guides on duty can get in for free. If you’re a child between 6 and 12, or part of a religious or school group, you can grab a discounted ticket.

It's a good idea to book your tickets online ahead of time. This will save you time and guarantee your spot, especially during busy tourist seasons when the lines can get really long.

Combine your Duomo visit with nearby attractions like Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, La Scala Opera House, or Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper.

In November, the Milan Duomo transforms into a spiritual art gallery with the "Quadroni di San Carlo." These captivating paintings narrate the life and miracles of Saint Charles Borromeo, enhancing the cathedral's beauty and spiritual ambiance. This is a great time to book your tickets.

Did you know?

The Protective Madonnina: Perched atop the Duomo since 1774, the Madonnina guards Milan with a hidden weapon—she conceals a lightning rod within her Halberd, protecting herself from the elements.

Centuries in the Making: Construction of the Gothic cathedral began in 1386 and concluded in the 19th century. Adorned with 34,000 statues, 135 spires, and 55 stained glass windows, the Duomo showcases centuries of craftsmanship and artistry.

Archaeological Treasures: Beneath the Duomo lie ancient ruins dating back to Roman times. The archaeological section reveals remnants of two churches and a baptistery, providing glimpses into Milan's rich history.

St. Bartholomew's Secret: The statue of St. Bartholomew appears draped in a plain cloth, but a closer look unveils a natural cloak. The statue commemorates the martyrdom of St. Bartholomew in a unique and symbolic manner.

Musical Marvel: The Duomo houses Italy's largest organ, located in the main altar. Boasting 15,800 pipes and exquisite organ cases, it stands as a musical masterpiece with intricately designed doors depicting scenes from the Old and New Testament.

Magnificent cathedral, astonishing and awe-inspiring interior. Terrace and rooftop walk involved (naturally) a lot of stair climbing, but definitely worth it if you are fit enough.
