Pro tips to help you make a pick

Standard self-guided entry is usually the lowest-cost option, with adult reseller prices around €14–€20 in 2024. Multimedia-guide variants are typically roughly €18–€24, so compare inclusions before choosing.

Pre-book online if you’re visiting on weekends, holidays, or rainy days. Online tickets usually let you skip the on-site ticket purchase line and go straight to the entrance desk for voucher scanning.

Check whether the multimedia guide is included before paying more. Standard tickets generally cover exhibition entry only; audio or multimedia guide devices/apps are usually sold as an add-on or separate variant.

If you prefer reading panels and using the screens at your own pace, the standard ticket is often enough. Reviews on the multimedia guide are mixed, and using it can stretch the visit closer to 2 hours.

Choose a weekday morning or late-afternoon slot for quieter galleries. Midday weekends and school-group periods are more likely to mean short entry waits and busier interactive stations.

Verify whether your Milan city pass or combo already includes Leonardo3 before buying a separate ticket. Coverage varies by provider, and some products bundle Leonardo3 with Duomo access or a hop-on hop-off bus.

If you want more than museum entry, look for clearly labeled combos. A documented option is the Combo: Milan Hop-on Hop-off Bus Tour + Leonardo3 Museum Tickets; assortment also lists admission with a guided Last Supper visit.

Do not assume Leonardo3 admission includes the real Last Supper at Santa Maria delle Grazie. Standard tickets cover only the museum inside the Galleria unless your combo explicitly says otherwise.

About Leonardo3 Museum

Leonardo3 focuses on interactive reconstructions and multimedia rather than a traditional object-only display. Inside the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, visitors can virtually assemble and operate Leonardo’s inventions, browse translated codex pages on screens, and compare machine models with digital explanations. The result is a compact, self-paced Leonardo overview that fits easily between the Duomo and La Scala.

Did you know?

Leonardo3 is curated and produced by Leonardo3, a research and media company dedicated to studying and reconstructing Leonardo da Vinci’s machines and artworks.

The exhibition includes numerous reconstructions of machines that had never been built before, created after detailed study of Leonardo’s manuscripts.

Many of the museum’s physical models are functional or mechanically demonstrable, so visitors can see how Leonardo’s designs would have moved in practice.

Its digital restoration of The Last Supper is intended to show how the mural likely appeared before centuries of damage and restoration altered the original image.

Instead of displaying fragile originals, the museum uses digital installations where visitors can browse Leonardo’s codices with translations, diagrams, and zoom features.

Why visit Leonardo3 Museum?

Flying Machines from Leonardo’s Notebooks

The Flying Machines & Aviation Concepts area presents reconstructions of Leonardo’s ornithopters and early helicopter-like devices. Interactive displays explain lift and motion, showing how he tried to solve flight centuries before modern aviation.

War Machines with Mechanical Cutaways

The War Machines & Engineering gallery includes models of an armored vehicle, multi-barrel guns, and fortification concepts. Mechanical cutaways and diagrams help visitors understand how Leonardo applied mechanics and ballistics to military design.

Digital Restoration of The Last Supper

One of the museum’s standout works is its digital restoration of Leonardo’s The Last Supper, originally painted around 1495–1498. High-resolution projections and explanations reveal colors, facial details, and compositional choices that are difficult to see in the damaged original mural.

Interactive Codices with Zoom and Translation

Digital facsimiles let you browse pages from Leonardo’s codices on screen instead of looking at static reproductions. You can zoom into sketches and margin notes, then use translations and diagrams to follow how his ideas developed.

A Central 1–2 Hour Leonardo Stop

Leonardo3 is designed for a self-paced visit of roughly 1–2 hours inside the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Its central location makes it easy to combine with the Duomo or La Scala, and the fully indoor layout is especially practical on rainy or cold days.
