Only limited time in Milan so we didn't want to use it up queuing to get into this must see attraction! Although we paid more, the entry to the cathedral was seamless and we were straight through into the lift up in no time (quick check of IDs and bag). The cathedral and views from up there are spectacular!

Access is excellently organized. We had a short waiting time. Bag check is understandable. Then an elevator ride up to the roof terrace. The view as far as the Alps and the perspectives of the cathedral itself are impressive. The way down is on foot. If you have also booked admission to the cathedral, you turn off directly after the stairs into the cathedral. Wonderfully organized!
