We had a very good experience both with the guide, who told us curious facts, and with the organization of the trip, which gave us time to eat and walk around the villages we visited. You spend a lot of time on the bus but this allows you to see the scenery (better to be quick and take a window as the seats are fixed for the whole trip) and the experience of seeing the lake from the boat is impressive. To look for something negative the explanations were first in English and then in Spanish, so if you understand both languages it becomes a little heavy but otherwise amazing.

Lake Como is even bigger than I could have imagined. The guide pointed out some amazing places on the lake. She gave great information about what to do at each of our trips. I got time to see the gardens in Bellagio. The views from these gardens were incredible. Was delighted to be able to sample some Swiss chocolate in Lugano.

Baraba was an excellent guide. The tour description was not very accurate. It stated we were on a boat ride or Como but failed to say it was a water taxi which is very different than a dedicated tour boat. There was not ample seating for all guests boarding continually at stops and 2 hours is a long time to stand outside with no seating in or outside. The amount of time in Lugano was only 45 minutes after our ferry boat arrived almost an hour late , leaving us standing and waiting for an hour. We had 6-7 hours of idle time waiting or on transport out of an 10.5 hour day. We would not recommend or book again. Better to do 2 towns with more time than all the transport time with not enough time to stroll or dine after all the other tourists were dumped off at the same times.

Known as ‘The Pearl of Lake Como’, Bellagio is a town famous for its resorts. Explore the city, sample the local food, shop or just stroll through the boulevards, you’re free to have your own adventure in the charming atmosphere. Once you’re done, it’s time to board the coach and head to the border.

An hour away from Bellagio, the cross-country journey to the foothills of the snowy Alps is as scenic as it sounds. Called ‘The Monte Carlo of Switzerland’, Lugano is located on a beautiful lake of the same name. Known for its artistic culture thanks to ‘Passion and Crucifixion’, a painting by Bernardino Luini, housed in the Santa Maria degli Angioli Church, a quick walk away. The painting is of such artistic caliber, it is often compared to Leonardo Da Vinci! But on Sundays, the trip takes you to Varenna instead as Lugano's shops and restaurants are typically closed on Sundays.

What to bring

All customers are required to carry their original passport/travel document with them to enter Switzerland.
Customers holding passports from a non-EU country will need a Schengen Visa which they can obtain on entry to an EU country. Without the correct Visa, customers will not be allowed to enter Switzerland.
It is recommended to wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes as a fair amount of walking is involved on this tour.

What's not allowed

If you wish to enter any Cathedral or religious attraction on your tour you must dress modestly with your knees and shoulders covered.

Additional Information

The cruise on Lake Como may be anywhere between 50 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the season.
Note that on Sundays, the day trip takes you to Varenna instead, as Lugano's shops and restaurants are typically closed on Sundays.
In Lugano, most stores are closed on Sundays.
For safety reasons, public navigation will be used instead of exclusive boats in cases of bad weather or high water level.
