what to expect
What Is Ain Dubai?
Ain Dubai (also known as the Dubai Eye or the Dubai Ferris Wheel), is amongst the UAE’s most ambitious engineering projects. Standing at a staggering height of 250m, this Ferris wheel is taller than both the London Eye and the High Roller of Las Vegas. The project was undertaken by Hyundai Engineering & Construction in association with Starneth Engineering in May 2015. Ain Dubai was set to open in October 2020, alongside the Dubai Expo, but got delayed due to the pandemic.
It is located on Bluewaters Island, off the coast of the Jumeirah Beach Residence, in close proximity to Dubai Marina. Over the next few decades, Ain Dubai and Bluewaters Island alone are expected to attract a whopping 3 million tourists on an annual basis. In time, Ain Dubai is also expected to have one of the world’s tallest rope-climbing platforms at a height of around 150 meters.
Why Visit Ain Dubai?
Step onto the Dubai Ferris Wheel for breathtaking panoramic views of the Dubai skyline on one side and the vast sea on the other. The Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah, and the Burj Al Arab, three of the city’s most iconic tourist destinations, are clearly visible from the very top of Ain Dubai. The sprawling 1.7 kilometer-long Jumeirah Beach Residence can also be seen from the Ferris wheel. Booking one of the six VIP capsules gives you exclusive access to private bars and fine dining. Once you are done with the ride, the surrounding area on Bluewaters Island is filled with fantastic shopping, dining, and sightseeing options.
Ain Dubai Construction & Design
As the largest Ferris wheel in the world, Ain Dubai has over 27,000 meters of LED lighting on the wheel. Alongside Hyundai Engineering & Construction (HDEC), the heavy lifting contract was taken by Mammoet back in 2014. The spindle and legs were directly lifted onto the island directly from the barge using two super heavy lift cranes, thus eliminating the requirement for multiple barges and temporary storage. The base of Ain Dubai will have an 80-meter tall LED screen for broadcasting advertisements and other information.

The Burj Khalifa
The Burj Khalifa is undoubtedly one of the most iconic skyscrapers in the Middle East. It dominates the Dubai skyline by standing in stark contrast to every other skyscraper around. The Burj Khalifa set several records including ‘tallest existing structure’, ‘world’s highest nightclub’, and ‘building with most floors’. With over 160 floors, the 830m tall giant is one of the most amazing sights from Ain Dubai.
Burj Al Arab
Since 1999, the Burj Al Arab has consistently been one of the top tourist destinations in Dubai. It has been designed to look like the sail of a ship. Like many of the other massive structures in Dubai, the Burj Al Arab is nothing short of an engineering marvel. Ain Dubai offers a clear view of this 280-meter tall hotel that stands atop another artificial island.
This man-made archipelago is one of the latest land reclamation projects undertaken by the UAE. It boasts several luxurious 5-star hotels and resorts such as ‘Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort’ and ‘Atlantis, The Palm’. This incredible feat of engineering is another sight to behold from Ain Dubai.
