He knew an incredible amount about the history of the creation of the Vatican, facts about the most important popes and artworks, as well as the unique position the Vatican holds inside Rome and what the city-state means for the neighboring country. Excellent guide with a great knowledge of the Basilicas history. Pointless to visit without the guide in my opinion. Berninis bronze canopy in itself makes the visit worthwhile. One small criticism of the tour was that the exact location of the meeting place was not clear to us. It was the coffee shop/Caffè in the middle of Piazza del Risorgimento, at a table there.
