Very straight forward to book skip the line tickets. It was not very clear at St Mark's where you need to go, but just asked a staff member on one of the queues and they pointed us in the right direction and we were able to walk straight in.

Buying tickets from Headout made the process so much smoother. We were able to just scan the barcode when we got to the entrances of the Basilica and Bell Tower. That was it. Very simple. Loved seeing both places and the view from the Bell Tower was phenomenal!! An absolute must when in Venice!! Great experience and will use Headout again!!

The clear explanation and interaction with the guide. The eplanation of certain details in an interactive way. And the calm but ferm reaction to the tourist that didn't inform herself and didn't listen to the directive of covering her shoulders.

Tix easy. Guide Marina great. My only suggestion. I wear hearing aids, as did a few others on the tour. May I suggest the guides wear a better mic that secures to the ear and the mic is on a boom so it is against their cheek. Then the sound level is constant and not dropping when they turn to point something out or answer a question. Thank you, John

Pala d'Oro

It is made of gold panels, comprising hundreds of jewels, including 1,300 pearls, 300 emeralds, 300 sapphires, 400 garnets as well as amethysts, rubies and topaz.

Treasury

The treasury houses historical artefacts and other essential collections maintained over centuries; this includes about 283 pieces of gold, silver, glass and other significant materials as well. The entire area has been divided into four sections which can be seen to the right of the main altar. They include Antiquity and the Early Middle ages objects, Byzantine goldsmiths’ works, objects from Islamic and western origin.

Marble Inlays

The marble inlays present within the St. Mark’s Basilica continue to be one of the most significant displays. Venice was filled to the brim with these precious stones following the Fourth Crusade in 1204. These marbles were used in a symbolic manner based on their characteristics and colour; red porphyry was associated with imperial and divine power which is why it was used as interiors of the doge’s tribune.
