GroupVerified bookingYesterday5/5A truly magnificent tour. The place is one of a kind. Being able to visit a Roman city that has remained exactly as it was 200 years ago was an unforgettable experience. I’d also like to give a special mention to our guide, Grazia. I’ll be honest—I usually get bored listening to guides, even though I know they’re often essential for understanding the monuments and history of a museum or archaeological site. This time, however, I was pleasantly surprised. Grazia, in addition to being truly knowledgeable and well-prepared, was very engaging, pleasant, and uniquely charming. She made the tour even more wonderful. I can only recommend visiting Pompeii with Grazia as your guide.KKhrystsina B
CoupleVerified booking2 weeks ago5/5Visiting Pompeii was one of the highlights of my trip to Italy, and our guide made the experience truly unforgettable. She was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and brought the ancient city to life with fascinating stories and historical insights. The tour was well organized, the entry process was smooth, and there was plenty of time to explore and ask questions. I learned so much more than I would have on my own. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Pompeii—it was worth every minute!NNancy H
CoupleVerified booking3 weeks ago4/5Our archaeologist guide was so passionate about the site and everything she had to tell us about it. She was witty and funny and we found her very enjoyable. The two hour tour was a little hard on these 69-year-old bodies and the pace seemed to be a little quicker than we were comfortable with. But there were frequent stops and we were savvy enough to have brought enough water with us. Anyone with any type of mobility issue will be hard pressed to enjoy this, especially during the hot summer months.RRoger D
GroupVerified booking5 days ago4/5The archaeologist was excellent and very knowledgeable. However, as we were always on the move and it required much concentration not to lose the thread of the information imparted, there was not time to look at the map to get a sense of where we were within Pompeii and location of the highlighted features within the town. After we finished the tour the guide pointed out where we had walked around Pompeii and surprisingly it was only a relatively small section of the town.NNoelia J
CoupleVerified booking4 days ago5/5Yesterday my husband and I took the tour of Pompeii, and it was a fantastic experience. We had originally booked it in English, but they very kindly switched it to Spanish at the last minute, which we really appreciated. Our guide made the tour very engaging, entertaining, and full of interesting information. Despite the intense heat in Pompeii, time flew by, and before we knew it, the two-hour tour was over.
Through an archaeologist's lens
Take a 2-hour guided walk through Pompeii, an archaeological marvel, offering insights into daily life during the Roman Empire. Breeze past the queue with the skip-the-line ticket, and begin your expedition with an archaeologist guide through ancient streets and the bustling Forum, a central public space serving as the heart of civic, commercial, and social activities.
Learn about the city's history, including the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. This volcanic eruption buried the city under a thick layer of ash and pumice, preserving it remarkably well for centuries. Discover hidden secrets of attractions like the Basilica, the Thermopolium of Asellina, and the Stabian Baths, considered to be the oldest public baths in the city, constructed during the 2nd century BC.
Walk through Pompeii’s highlights
Stroll down the Via dell’Abbondanza to reach the Teatro Grande, Pompeii's foremost theatre, primarily hosting theatrical performances, musical events, and various public spectacles. Throughout the exploration, you'll have the opportunity to appreciate ancient Roman artworks. Have the opportunity to step into the culinary world of ancient Pompeii as you explore the Thermopilia, ancient Roman "fast-food" establishments that once served as communal gathering spaces for locals.
Get to see the erotic frescoes woven into the walls of Pompeii's ruins where your guide will provide a nuanced perspective on the sensual aspects of Pompeii's culture.
Visit Foro, a hub of ancient political activities where you can get a sense of political chatters that once existed in these ruins. End the tour at the 'Calchi dei Corpi,' plaster casts that preserve the final moments of victims during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
