From Naples: Mount Vesuvius Entry Tickets with Round-Trip Transfers

WARNING: Local Partner AroundVesuvio! We booked a Vesuvius tour with transportation from Naples through Headout (local partner: AroundVesuvio)—unfortunately, it was a thoroughly disappointing experience. The day before, our tour was rescheduled to a later time at the last minute via WhatsApp. Although we had changed our daily plans and canceled non-refundable activities we had already paid for, we suddenly found ourselves not on the participant list at the meeting point—despite prior confirmation. We were simply left standing there. The on-site handling was particularly frustrating: The phone call with the local partner was rude and not at all solution-oriented—the conversation was even abruptly ended by the other party. Another couple (who booked through GetYourGuide) had exactly the same problem. A look at the Google reviews for AroundVesuvio also shows that such incidents apparently occur frequently. In the end, we had to organize an alternative tour for the next day ourselves—which then went off without a hitch. The refund through Headout was eventually processed, but it took over a month and required a total of 9 emails. What’s particularly disappointing is that, in addition to the lost day of vacation, we incurred additional costs that weren’t covered. What was supposed to be the highlight of our stay unfortunately turned into a very frustrating experience.

The tour was very well organized, with a clearly specified meeting point. Whenever there was a change, we were informed right away. Everything ran smoothly, and there was plenty of time for sightseeing. I’m very satisfied and would highly recommend it.

Glad we took this tour. Everything was seamless from booking online, meeting place, the drive to the climb. The weather was a bit cloudy but still enjoyed the view.

First, there were no clear instructions, where the meeting point is located. There was this office od the company at -1 level and also a kiosk. But fortunately, it was communicable. The trip was as expected, the driver was on time. Maybe it is a little overpriced with 11 eur entry ticket and 2 eur audioguide. That leaves me with 27 eur of round bus trip in an old bus with no wifi or usb charger. No one was even providing some information about the trip on the bus. So no added value for 27 eur.

The trip and the visit to Vesuvius were great. The directions to the meeting point weren't very clear—they really need to be updated: the directions said to go to the first basement level, but the meeting point was actually on Level 0.

Host upon departure to/ from Vesuvio was classy, hospitable and a very positive, fun & good-hearted person. Non stressed and, with his good humor, taking away stress from the non-mediterraean guests. Bus trip went smooth: no delays, careful & respectful driver. ECCELLENTE :-)
