Take a ride down to the 70s where one rock band navigates the perils of fame while on the brink of stardom.

Great for

Fans of rock bands | Drama enthusiasts | 70s music fans

  • Stereophonic is a nuanced portrayal of creative genius - and the perils that come with it. Set in the 1970s, this acclaimed play from playwright David Adjmi pairs beautifully with an original score from Will Butler, a former member of the Grammy-winning Indie Rock band Arcade Fire, to showcase what musical authenticity looks like in the face of struggles and stardom.

    The story

It's the 70s. Rock and roll is having its moment, and new bands are a dime a dozen. One band, determined to stand out, sits at the cusp of their big moment: a breakout album sure to skyrocket them to fame. As pressure mounts during the band's studio recording sessions, a gripping tale unfolds. Will this be their breakthrough, or will it be what causes them to fall apart?

Absolutely amazing show! Even with a slightly restricted view, the acting was so good even for the bits I couldn't see that I understood the plot!

Really great production. Funny, Heartwrenching and a great score. 1st half runs about 10 mins longer than needed but the cast brilliantly evoked the agony and anguish of creative process behind a "perfect" album (Shades of Fleetwood Mac's Rumors album, for sure). Definitely a must-see.
