Sightseeing Cruises

Dubai's Pearl Diving Era Heritage Boat Tour

On a 1-hour sightseeing cruise, step back to the days when this waterfront thrived on sea trade, then look up to the modern skyline that rose from it.

Board a traditional wooden abra at the canal dock, making your own way to the designated pier shortly before your scheduled departure.

Glide along the Dubai Water Canal past the Al Jadaf shoreline, watching native birds at the sanctuary and seeing historic dhows in their yards.

On board, a certified local guide leads a heritage talk on pearl diving, with Arabic music and Emirati hospitality of water, coffee, and dates.

Upgrade to include round-trip transfers, so transport between the city and the canal departure point is taken care of for you each way.

Cruise the Dubai Water Canal for 1 hour on a traditional abra, with a certified local guide telling the story of Dubai’s pre-oil trading days. Expect tales of merchants and mariners, not skyline photo stops.

Getting started

Board your abra directly at the waterside on the Dubai Water Canal. If you added round-trip transfers, transport is arranged both to and from the cruise, so you don’t need to find the boarding point yourself.

What to expect on the canal

An abra is the traditional wooden boat Dubai’s traders and mariners used to move people and goods across the water. This cruise follows that history, from trade routes to pearl diving, as you glide along the canal.

Features

Listen to your certified local guide explain how merchants and mariners shaped Dubai before oil.

Get a pearl-diving orientation onboard, covering how pearling worked in the region.

Hear Arabic music as you travel along the Dubai Water Canal.

Pass the native bird sanctuary, a protected stretch of waterside habitat.

See Al Jadaf’s historic dhow yards from the water, where traditional boats are still built.

Sip Arabic coffee and eat dates onboard, with water included.

Wrapping up

Your 1-hour cruise ends back at the waterside where you boarded. If you booked transfers, your ride back is arranged as part of the package.
