Did you know?

The royal family’s former name used to be Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. In 1919, the royal family adopted the name Windsor, inspired by the castle.

More than 10 monarchs have been buried in Windsor Castle, including Charles I, Edward IV, Henry VIII, and Queen Elizabeth II.

During World War II, the royals hid at Windsor instead of Buckingham Palace. The young princesses, including the future Queen Elizabeth II, had to sleep in the dungeon.

Windsor Castle has the oldest working kitchen in the entire UK, dating back to the 1360s.

The castle is home to 'An Old Woman' by Rembrandt, 'Holy Family with Saint Francis' by Rubens, 'Charles I in Three Positions' by Van Dyck, and several paintings by Canaletto.

We chose the option without transportation because we wanted to experience the local public transit system; it was very easy to get there. The tour is very interesting, and the audio guide is quite useful. I’d recommend setting aside about 4 hours to complete the entire tour, since we underestimated the time needed and weren’t able to finish it. Highly recommended!!

It's a very large site with plenty to see. It's worth getting there early—it gets crowded with tourists starting around noon. The five hours flew by.

Perfectly organised tour. We had a great day in Stonehenge, Windsor Castle and Oxford. Our tour guide was Josh and he gave us many interesting informations about destination and places we visited but also about London and great places to visit after the tour. He also speaks perfectly spanish so he can guide english and spanish groups. I highly recommend this tour.👌 P.S. This tour is not for people who have a habit of being late because if you want to see all these destinations in one day, you need to respect the timetable.
