Jan Versweyveld’s rotating concrete tower set design creates a stark, modernist landscape for Don Giovanni, echoing the opera’s psychological tension and moral decay.

The story

Mozart and Da Ponte’s Don Giovanni follows the legendary libertine in Seville, whose crimes, including the murder of the Commendatore and serial seduction, set off a spiral of revenge, betrayal, and moral reckoning . His daring escapades are shadowed by his servant Leporello’s cynical wit, yet nothing saves him when a supernatural statue brings divine judgment. In Ivo van Hove’s chilling modern staging, concrete towers and haunting projections magnify Giovanni’s arrogance, turning a night of decadence into a terrifying descent.
