Witness the legendary story of King Kong at its Broadway debut. A clever mix of puppetry, animatronics, stagecraft, and music makes this musical come to life. Follow the enterprising actress Ann Darrow and the Bohemian filmmaker Carl Denham on their voyage from the thoroughfares of New York City to an unexplored island where they stumble across the colossal titan.
King Kong is choreographed and directed by Olivier Award winner Drew McOnie. It showcases a thrilling new score by Marius de Vries, who also worked on La La Land, and Eddie Perfect who is known for having worked on Beetlejuice the Musical. The musical is an emotional and thrilling work of theatre that brings one of the most legendary stories to the big stage. King Kong, the title character, is depicted with the help of an enormous two-story tall, one-ton animatronic creation that has been made in Melbourne, Australia. The production also has a featured book by Jack Thorne who wrote Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
The Story
The musical is a theatrical re-imagination of the classic film of the same name. It begins with the filmmaker Carl Denham at the New York Harbor on Captain Eaglehorn’s ship, The Venture. He is eager to begin his new project. He hasn’t, however, been able to find the ideal actress for the female role. Luckily for him, he finds Ann Darrow in the streets of New York. He promises her the opportunity to be a part of a thrilling adventure, and he whisks her off onto his ship. They sail to the unexplored Skull Island. He speaks of a beast called Kong which is believed to live on the island. The musical traces the story of the duo as they try and capture this enormous beast.
The musical is a tale of adventure and love, with a two thousand pound, twenty foot tall gorilla at the centre of it, and a woman who puts everything at stake to save him.Good for

Critics Reviews
“He’s arriving a little later than anticipated, but King Kong is finally ready to attack Broadway.”
– New York Times“Thankfully the show's creators have not been afraid to step outside the traditional ra-ra Broadway style, opting instead for a dark, reflective score with some brave contemporary staging.”

It was fast and easy to order and price was good. The person though waiting for me for my tickets didn't make much of an effort to find me though. Had it not been for me asking another ticket person, I would've never found him.
