Following a series of wildly successful performances, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Thomas Kail are all set to bring their dynamic show to Broadway! Savor an 85-minute long flight of bliss in this refreshingly unique mash-up of theatrical comedy, freestyle, and hip-hop.
- Boasting an incredibly talented lineup of performers and creative artists, Freestyle Love Supreme manages to be unique in a nearly impossible manner. Every show is an improvised version of the original, with performers constantly taking inputs from the audience and blending them into the performance. The show has been put together by three-time Tony and Grammy Award-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda. He has also won a Pulitzer Prize, an Emmy Award, and Kennedy Center Honor, placing him amongst the ranks of America’s most successful figures in music and theatre. He has dabbled in acting as well, playing the part of Jack in Mary Poppins Returns (2018), for which he bagged the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. Andrew Bancroft, well-known for his performances in Maximum Wage and Evolution: The Musical!, will star as Jelly Donut. He will be joined by Bill Sherman as ‘King Sherman’ and Chris Sullivan as ‘Shockwave’. Popular members of FLS such as Daveed Diggs and James Monroe Iglehart are expected to join the performers on stage for certain select shows. Although the show seems to be based on hip-hop and freestyle, much of its inspiration is rooted in jazz, blues, and soul culture of the 70s and 80s. - The Show- The show features six energetic performers known for their ability to improvise and compose melodies and harmonies on the spot. The unflagging 85-minute display of humor, wit, and musical prowess will constantly involve the audience in the performance. There will be a brilliant mix of freestyle, hip-hop, and improv, all serving the comic purpose of the show. Spontaneity is the name of the game, as Chris Sullivan, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Arthur Lewis, and Andrew Bancroft light the stage on fire with invigorating performances that you are bound to remember fondly for months! - Good For- Lovers of Musicals | Fans of Lin-Manuel Miranda - Critic Reviews- "Fast, furious, funny, and wildly entertaining."
