Bask in a brilliant combination of good storytelling and nostalgic R&B vocals this season at New York’s Imperial Theater. ‘Temptations’, the legendary ‘60s band on which the musical is based, continues to be one of the most influential groups in the music scene today.
A charismatic revival of The Temptations’ most breathtaking dance moves and vocals, Ain’t Too Proud is sure to be one of the best musicals at Broadway this year. From the ‘60s outfits to the flawless performance, the talented cast consisting of Derrick Baskin, James Harkness, and Jeremy Pope among others, resonates with classic R&B culture like never before. The show also explores ideas of friendship and morality in an America that was not quite liberal and tolerant as it is today.
Set during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, Ain’t Too Proud follows the familiar story of the sensational Detroit-based band that produced a whopping 42 songs that made it into the ‘Top Ten Hits’, 14 of which reached the top spot at various points in time. The group, which initially consisted of songwriting legends Smokey Robinson and Norman Whitfield alongside singers Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin, plunges headfirst into the struggle for equality. With hit songs like ‘Ball of Confusion’ and ‘Papa Was A Rolling Stone’, the musical takes audiences on a wild journey into the world of one of America’s finest bands.

Critics Reviews
“When “Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations,” the Broadway-bound jukebox musical, is in motion, it’s a force almost as irresistible as any of the powerhouse R&B band’s greatest hits.”

I was nervous using head out. Wasn’t sure if anyone was going to be there with my tickets. But I had received an email reminder that the event was coming soon. Also received a text that day letting me know that my host was on his way and gave me his name. He was there way before me and was very nice. I would definitely recommend them and would definitely use them againIvory

At first I was a little skeptical about the whole thing and how it worked. But when I saw just how easy and convenient it was. I began to appreciate it. So thank you, thank youNikki

Everything was exactly as described! My host was waiting, very clearly, in the spot indicated, across from the theater! Easy as pie.Jennifer

Price and convenience HOWEVER the agent was not standing in front of the theater the night we went. My confirmation paper clearly stated he would be in front of the theater, as had happened the night before when we used this service with our friends. I called the number on my paper and was told the agent was across the street, and that I had been told that. He was there but I was never informed to look for him at another theater. We made it to our seats with 30seconds to spare. Not a good way to start the performanceWendy
