Pompeii itself was stunning, of course. Such a vast area that one day is not even close enough to explore even half of it. Would definitely go again, and recommed everyone to visit! Good to select 10-15 spots you want to see and make yourself a manageable walking route. The paper map you receive for free is enough, with more information available in the audioguide or on the internet. Prepare with good shoes, sunscreen, snacks, packed lunch and plenty of water. There is a busy restaurant in the park but the queues are long. Not many toilets in the area, but several close to the restaurant and the entry/exit points. We visited on a Sunday so there was plenty of people, but as the area itself is so large you can't really tell how busy it is except on certain points. The instructions from Headout on how to retrieve the paper tickets were unclear. One receives bar codes in the app. The email and the app said to go opposite to the tourist information office (opposite the I Tourist office near Piazza Anfiteatro) to collect the required paper tickets for entry. There was even a map and an image showing the meeting point, but no one was there. Later we found out that we needed to go wait in line into the tourist office in order to retrieve the paper tickets. Luckily we got the tickets and got in (late from our start time). These guidelines should be clarified.

The guide was very good, knowledgeable and brought humour into the tour. However be aware if you go on the 1st Sunday of the month there isn't an entrance fee so you are essentially paying full price for the guide. Also if you go later in the day you are not guaranteed entrance as they cap visitors at 20,000 per day and if they are up to capacity they won't let you in. Saying that it didn't feel over crowded and we were able to move around with ease, where as earlier in the day some areas were crowded and there was a wait to get into some areas. Tge tour lasted just over 2 hours but you could spend many more hours exploring tge site is huge!

Our Archeologist Theresa was a very enthusiastic tourguide with lots of interesting historic details and background stories - very knowledgeable and a top storyteller bringing you ever so close to the fatal day in October 79 that submerged Pompeii- with new facts based on the latest insights brought to light by the still ongoing excavations that Theresa is working on as well as an archeologist, she is so well informed that - with a little imagination - you get the feeling that you are guided around by an eyewitness of the fatal event ...

Thank you for a wonderful guided tour in the unique Pompeii. Our knowledgeable guide led our group through the ruins with the theme of a typical day in the life of a resident during Roman times. The perspective was fascinating, and through it we saw not only the ruins, but above all a vivid glimpse of the city and its inhabitants before it was buried under ash and lava. It was an unforgettable experience. The guide was excellent. Thank you!

Booking the tickets was easy. Pompeii was a wonderful and unforgettable experience. We spent four hours exploring it, which was more than enough for us. Of course, you could easily spend a whole day there. Herculaneum was just as interesting, and much of it is even better preserved than in Pompeii. It’s also much smaller, so a two-hour visit was sufficient for us. We highly recommend both sites!

On our way to Pompeii, we were approached by Headout staff right in front of the entrance, and they gave us clear instructions on where to go to redeem the registration we had completed the night before. We received a paper ticket and, as compensation, a discount on a Dutch-language guidebook about Pompeii. We had booked an audio tour, but since that doesn’t always work in practice, this was a nice offer.

Our visit to Herculaneum was spectacular... We took the train from Naples and walked to the entrance, absolutely delighted. We picked up an audio guide and started the tour with it... We had a great time and learned a lot... But since we're getting on in years, we were so tired by the end that we couldn't make it all the way to Pompeii—we'll try to go another day...

Pompeii was absolutely amazing!! We ended up upgrading our tour from the self audio guide to a 2-hr guided tour. THAT is the way to go. Stella was a fabulous guide. She covered the major points of interest and then you can wander on your own. You can't see it all in one day. It's an amazing place.

I still find it a hassle that I have to go to a train station first with my ticket, get a "voucher" there, and then stand in line again at the park itself. The park itself was great: clean, well-organized, easy to navigate, and not too crowded. The audio tour didn't add anything.

Visiting Pompeii is a memorable experience. The site is extremely interesting from a historical perspective and offers a true glimpse into what daily life was really like during that Roman era. A must-see for anyone visiting Naples.

The organization was excellent. And the archaeological site is very interesting. We had a great day there. It would be nice, though, if there were more access to the sights. All in all, though, it’s totally worth it.
