Built 2,000 years ago... But how logical, functional, beautiful and cared for! The villas are perfectly integrated into the landscape, the windows offer magnificent views of the Neopolitan bay and mountains, socially significant buildings are striking in scale and proportions. Even drinking fountains (utilitarian in their purpose) are decorated with marble heads and arranged systematically and quite often! Aesthetics and harmony with nature amaze modern man, and how fantastic this city was 20 centuries ago .... I can't imagine!

It is heavily impressive what this whole excavation site made accessible to us again, all these huge amounts of soil and lava ashes which had to get removed to find paintings, mosaics in housings, temples, public thermal pools and arenas. Such a rich and much modern culture compared to the dark middle age. Wish I would have seen this life once live. It puts imagination to next level!

I loved how well-preserved the ancient city is and how easy it was to imagine daily life in Roman times. The weather was beautiful, which made the experience even better, and it wasn’t too crowded, so I could really take my time exploring and enjoying everything. Extraordinary and fascinating archaeological site, capable of transporting you back in time. It was unfortunate to find several works in progress that did not allow you to see many statues and some areas, but despite this Pompeii remains a place of immense beauty and historical value, absolutely worth visiting.

Il punto di ritrovo è veramente lontano dall'entrata principale. una volta arrivato sul posto non è stato proprio immediato trovare l'ufficio di competenza, inoltre abbiamo dovuto fare la fila per i biglietti da fare, anche se i biglietti li avevamo già fatto. Infine ma non ultimo avevambre prenotato i biglietti con audioguida, ma una volta arrivati sul posto ci è stato detto che l'audioguida prenotata, la si deve ascoltare sul cell tramite wi-fi ma che alll'interno degli sccavi il wi-fi non prendeva, quandi avremmo

The office where vouchers can be exchanged for tickets is just one minute away from the entrance to Pompeii. The only thing that is not clearly visible on the online portal is the indication that it is a voucher. So we went to the Pompeii entrance first and had to go back again.

What to bring

Carry your earphones for an immersive audio guide experience. If you are given a physical audio guide, ensure you arrive prepared with wired earphones (3.5mm jack).

A moderate amount of walking is involved in this activity. Please wear comfortable shoes due to uneven terrain.

Full names are mandatory for Pompeii bookings. Double-check the names at checkout for a hassle-free entry. Be sure to bring a valid Photo ID with you to gain entry.

What's not allowed

Strict dress code: No discourteous clothing or shirtless attire is allowed inside Pompeii Archaeological Park.

Big dogs (above the weight 10kg and the height of 40cm) are not allowed into the venue. Guide dogs with the proper certification are welcome.

Accessibility

Pompeii has uneven ground and limited wheelchair access. Use the south-side entrances instead of the main one.

Choose safety and comfort: This experience is not the best fit for people with impaired mobility and cardiac issues.

Tickets to the ruins are free of charge for disabled people and a companion, to be purchased directly on-site.

Additional information

Whether you will be allotted a digital pr physical audio guide will be communicated at the time of booking. You can decide what kind of earphones to bring accordingly.

If you're handed a physical audio guide, you must leave a personal document like a passport as security at the supplier's office before collecting the guide. After your tour, you must drop off the headsets and your document will be returned to you.

Facilities: cloakroom, luggage storage. Head to the Superiore Entrance to make use of the onsite luggage facilities.

The fee for the excavation sites of Pompeii is free for all first Sundays of the month.

Children under 18 enjoy free entry with a valid ID.

If you’re an EU citizen aged 18-24, you can avail the ticket at €2.

The same discount applies if you’re a non-EU citizen with a valid Italian residence permit (for study, work, family reasons, etc., as recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
