I thought it was the original site when bought the tickets It was confusing since the email say "I must PRINT" which confused me since e-tickets don't require that, thankfully Portugal have beautiful people and told me that it was not necessary. Mediaeval but not too much like for require paper. About the booking, once you there (In the park) you need to walk a climb till the castle across the park, to me was okay for my mother complicated, so I recommend in advance to get that bus ticket to the castle, that's about 4.5 euros. To get to the park from the train station, you can take the bus 434, it's a kind of Hop on and hop off, the price is 10.96 per person.

We had an amazing visit to Palácio da Pena in Sintra. The palace is absolutely breathtaking, with its colorful architecture, beautiful gardens, and incredible views over the hills of Sintra. Everything felt like a fairytale. The atmosphere was peaceful and magical, and there was so much history and detail to admire in every room and corner. The staff were friendly and the organization was very good despite the number of visitors. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Sintra!

Absolutely stunning day trip in Sintra! Pena Palace feels like stepping into a fairy tale, with incredible colors, architecture, and panoramic views. The surrounding park is peaceful and full of hidden paths and beautiful gardens. Quinta da Regaleira was equally magical — mysterious tunnels, enchanting gardens, and the famous Initiation Well made it unforgettable. The combo gives you the perfect mix of grand royal beauty and mystical atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We purchased the the tickets on my phone one evening at dinner. The process was simple and the tickets themselves were easy to access. We took the subway from Lisbon then hopped a bus to the the base of the castle road.it is a steep walk to get there but so worth it! The castle itself is beautiful and the grounds are spectacular. The trail from Penna to the Moorish castle is like walking in a poem. The peacocks even showed off for us! It is. Trip worth making.

Pena Palace And Sintra in general is a wonderful experience and a must see when in the Lisbon area and buying ahead of time save waiting in longer queues and driving up to the ticket booth saves the legs and back a vigorous workout The guides are helpful and wear layers as the wind and shade can make things cool but then the sun comes out and it gets warm Enjoy the magical views and history and the kind people

Pena Palace was a lovely self-tour, incredible views and a sweet yummy restaurant. We walked to the Moorish Castle but it was challenging and exhausting. I wouldn't recommend the visit unless you are super-duper fit. That visit is all uphill+++ a and very windy.

Sintra is a pretty town. The old town is situated high up, so you have to climb a bit of a hill to reach it. There are many nice restaurants in the old town serving good food, which will ensure you burn off enough calories to explore the park and Pena Castle. Getting there from the old town is a challenge. Waiting for a city bus at an intermediate stop often results in the bus not stopping at all. Fortunately, private bus operators are happy to stop and take you to the main entrance of the park for a slightly higher price than the bus ticket. The park itself is large, rather only shaped by nature not maintained by gardener. The walk from the entrance to the palace takes about 20-30 minutes. The route to the palace is well-marked, but the signs on the trees to the upper cross are difficult to find. To visit the palace, you'll have to wait quite a while in line. Fortunately, there's a café nearby where you can wait your turn. The palace is architecturally interesting and beautifully furnished. A tour takes about 30-45 minutes. If you're feeling energetic, it's worth to walk throug park to the lake and leaving the park there. However, we not reached finaly lake, we have returned and exited through the main exit again. This allowed us to board a bus after waiting in a long line and have a seat at the train station in Sintra to come back to Lizbon.
  • Feel the magic of Sintra with access to the colorful Pena Palace, its vast parklands, and more. Explore at your own pace or upgrade for added comfort and context.

    Getting started

Head to the main entrance of Pena Park. Depending on your ticket type, show your digital or printed voucher for access. If you’ve booked the transport upgrade, take the shuttle from the park entrance up to the palace. Security checks are standard, so keep your ticket ready and allow time for queues.

    What to expect

Perched high in the Sintra hills, Pena Palace is Portugal’s Romanticist icon—vivid, whimsical, and rich in royal history.

    • The Park:  Wander through 200 hectares of winding paths, secret gardens, pavilions, and exotic trees from around the world.

    • Chalet of the Countess of Edla: With select park-entry tickets, visit this Swiss-style retreat nestled in the park—built by King Ferdinand for his beloved Elise.

    • Audio Guide: Choose an upgraded ticket to uncover royal stories and architectural secrets in English, Spanish, or French.

    • Skip-the-Line Entry: Want to save time? The skip-the-line option helps you avoid crowds at one of Sintra’s most visited spots.

    • Shuttle upgrade: Skip the uphill 30-minute walk! Get entry to Pena Palace & Park with a convenient round-trip shuttle for a smooth, hassle-free visit with select options.

After soaking in the views and stories of Pena Palace, take your time exploring the peaceful park trails on your way back. If you’ve opted for the shuttle, head to the designated stop for a comfortable ride down. Buses and tuk-tuks are available near the exit to take you back into Sintra town.
