An incredible experience and highly recommended. 🐠🦈🐧 The Lisbon Oceanarium is beautiful, very well-maintained, and has a wide variety of species. The huge aquariums are impressive and allow you to enjoy marine life in a very special way. Everything is very clean, organized, and the atmosphere is peaceful and pleasant. We loved the visit and it is definitely one of those places worth visiting when you go to Lisbon. A beautiful experience for both adults and children! 💙🌊

We arrived at 11 on a Wednesday and it wasn't too crowded. The museum has a great flow to it which keeps crowds from getting too bunched. Our two year old has a wonderful time and liked that he could get right up on the glass of the giant tank. As adults, we enjoyed the otters and penguins but the star of our visit was this massive fish in the main tank that normally lays on its rocky with the other down. Finally, getting lunch after this visit was both early and very good. Overall, it was as represented: worth the trip.

The aquarium is in a beautiful location in the port. The tour routes are very well marked. A huge, central, and very rich aquarium with hundreds of fish, including manta rays and sharks. You can view it from all sides, seeing the areas where different species gather. In addition, there are many smaller themed aquariums. The penguins are so close. I recommend it. The cable car is a fun ride. You can see the beauty of the area from above. It's worth doing a round trip.

I loved it from start to finish... Everything was done really well, the entire staff was amazing, and the photos taken at the beginning—which we bought at the end—were all spectacular ❤️

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A truly unforgettable visit! The Lisbon Oceanarium surprised me from the very first moment: the enormous tanks, the variety of species, and above all, the feeling of being immersed in the ocean make the experience much more engaging than a simple visit to an aquarium. What I liked most was being able to observe such fascinating animals up close in their natural habitat, with a well-curated display and interesting information that makes the visit enjoyable even for those who aren’t particularly knowledgeable about marine life. It’s a place that inspires wonder but also makes you reflect on the importance of protecting the oceans. I highly recommend visiting, especially with family, but also as a couple or with friends. It was one of the best experiences I had in Lisbon, and definitely a visit I’d do again! 🐠🌊

Oceanário de Lisboa

Opened in 1998, the Oceanário de Lisboa is one of the world’s largest aquariums, renowned for its central 5-million-liter saltwater tank and immersive design that simulates a single, continuous ocean.

Features

Central saltwater tank: With over 5 million litres of saltwater, this vast tank houses diverse marine life and creates the illusion of one interconnected ocean, making it a focal point for visitors. Made of acrylic, it curves overhead, enveloping you in blue paradise.

Global marine habitats: Explore detailed recreations of the North Atlantic, Antarctic, Temperate Pacific, and Tropical Indian Ocean, each home to unique species and ecosystems.

Forests Underwater exhibit: Designed by Takashi Amano, this display highlights the biodiversity of tropical forest ecosystems within an aquatic setting.

Monstros Marinhos (Sea Monsters) exhibition: Discover life-size models of prehistoric marine predators in this temporary exhibition, covering more than 400 million years of ocean history through scientifically accurate recreations developed in partnership with Dino Parque Lourinhã.

What to bring
