The Merry Wives of Windsor often travels under the radar as one of Shakespeare's less lauded works. Originally thought to have been written at the behest of Queen Elizabeth I, the play brings back the character Sir John Falstaff, who was first introduced in Henry IV and puts him in the middle of a whole lot of shenanigans.
Sir John Falstaff has a plan. He will woo two wealthy married ladies, secure their fortunes for himself, and change his fate. Alas, fate is not so easy to trifle with, and now Falstaff has unwittingly made an enemy out of several parties. But most perilous of them all are Mistress Ford and Mistress Page, now wised up to the knight's scheme, and more than willing to play a few tricks of their own.
