Discover one of the most famous works of Oscar Wilde as it hurls logic, love, and language into the air. Witness one of the most dazzling (and funniest) plays on stage, and enjoy the part subtle and part outrageous humour of Wilde, aptly captured by director Michael Fentiman.
The Importance of Being Earnest is a witty play written by Oscar Wilde which was first performed in 1895 at London's St James's theater and published in 1899. This tightly crafted play involves two men who have created elaborate fictitious double lives for themselves in order to evade their social obligations. This sarcastic play is spread across 3 acts and is themed around social hypocrisy, gender, class, and dysfunctional families.
Oscar Wilde’s genius wit shines throughout the play and is taken to greater heights with intelligent dialogues and inexhaustible humor making it one of the greatest dramatic achievements. The play is directed by Denzel Westley-Sanderson who won the 2021 RTST Sir Peter Hall Director Award. The cast is yet to be announced.
