  • Julian Ovenden stars, rejoice! The Bridgerton and Downtown Abbey star is all set to reprise his role as the expatriate French plantation owner Emile de Becque, along with Gina Beck as the spirited American nurse Ensign Nellie Forbush. Love blooms between the two against the beautiful backdrop of the South Pacific island, but the budding romance is threatened by Ensign's struggles to accept Emile's mixed-race children.

Enjoy the masterful direction of Daniel Evans, who has productions such as Me and My Girl and Fiddler on the Roof under his belt. The musical also features one of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most beloved scores, with songs such as ‘Some Enchanted Evening’, ‘I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair’ and ‘Bali Ha’I’. After a sold-out run at Chichester Festival Theatre, the five-star production is looking to repeat the success at West End, especially with a limited season. So make sure you get your tickets before it's too late!

Saw South Pacific on what was the final performance at Sadlers Wells yesterday. Wonderful staging and outstanding performances from all the cast but especially Julian Ovenden - what a voice!! First time booking with Headout but wouldn't hesitate to do so again.

I thought the two male and one female leads were great and their voices amazing. Loved the scenery and set change. Thought Bloody Mary had a lovely voice, but just wasn't strong enough. Also Luther Billis wasn't comedic enough, especially in honey bun. And can you ask the male chorus to be not quite so light on their feet, they need butching up! Emily de Becque's voice was spellbinding. Wish someone would kiss me the way he kissed Nellie!

    - It was far too hot in the theatre which made it a little unconfortable - The show wasn't as 'good' as others we've seen recently (wasn't bad at all), just different strokes for different folks
