A truly unforgettable experience. A highlight of our trip to London. The play was at the same time faithful to the classic movie, but brought its own twists that made the story work great for a play. Highly recommend going to see Totoro.

The show was an unforgettable shared experience for me and my 4-year-old son, who is a Totoro fan. The show respected the original story and was faithful to the magical and playful world of the film. The show took all the joy out of its wonderful puppets - in different proportions and in 2 and 3 dimensions. The puppeteering and performing were excellent and the visuals were stunning. The music was delicate, and it supported the world of the show seamlessly. It was worth traveling from another country to see this! I would go see the show again anytime!

Hadn't been to the Gillian Lynne theatre before - the layout was good with only mildly restricted view from our seats (which we knew when booking). The show was brilliant with fantastic puppetry. We were wowed by the stage craft and the performances. We are two adults but I will say it seemed very family friendly with booster cushions being offered to smaller audience members.

The story

Join sisters Satsuki and Mei as they move to their curious new home in the countryside. Exploring their unfamiliar surroundings, they soon encounter a world of spirits, spritesand magical creatures. Maybe it was all a dream? Or perhaps they really are now friends with the giant, ancient protector of the forest named 'Totoro' and his friend the 'Catbus'.

Fabulous acting and coreography. Creative ways of bringing the critters to livfe to tell the story in its completeness. I cant add any photos - not allowed to take them in the theatre! It also made more accessible doing it in English!

Suggested age for this show is 6+, but younger guests are welcome. The show will be quite long, quite loud in parts, and possibly scary for some younger children at times. Children need to occupy their own seats at all times throughout the performance. This production is not suitable for children under 4 years of age (including babes in arms).

Keep in mind, the theater is air-conditioned throughout the year and can get a bit chilly. Bring along a light jacket if needed.
