Why Watch Curtains
Why Watch Curtains
Set in Boston during the 1950s, the show opens with the shocking murder of an immensely popular actress named Jessica Cranshaw. The crime is committed during the curtain call of the Broadway opening night of Robin Hood. Lt. Frank Cioffi from the Police Department is brought in as the chief detective for the case. In his quest to save the show and solve the case, Cioffi must pose as an ardent lover of musical theatre. Incidentally, Lt. Cioffi is indeed a huge fan of musical theatre when he is off duty, making him a perfect fit for the case. No one in the cast or crew of Robin Hood is beyond suspicion. Will Lt.Cioffi manage to snag the killer while still ensuring that the show (Robin Hood) is a hit?
Jason Manford, who is well-known for his performances in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Producers, will star as Frank Cioffi. He will be accompanied by British Soap Award-nominee Carley Stenson. This show is a musical adaptation of an identically titled book by Rupert Holmes and Peter Stone. The music and lyrics were created by Tony Award-winning duo John Kander and Fred Ebb. Shortly after it premiered in Los Angeles in 2006, Curtains was nominated for a whopping eight Tony Awards. The show continues to be an epitome of the genre.
