The herculeum is fantastic and so worth a visit! We were there in July and it was a heatwave so personally didn't need to get any skip the line or in advance, we could have just walked in but I don't know what it's like rest of the year. Herculeum is so well preserved and there is a section of skeletons if that's something you are looking for particularly if comparing to Pompeii.

Difficulty getting the tickets and audioguide (not in the same place). I had to go back and forth several times in 40-degree heat, which wasn't very pleasant.

There was no problem about getting our online tickets exchanged for entry to Herculaneum and pick up an audio tour as the staff were very efficient. Had a great day exploring the site. The only problem we had, and we were not the only ones, is that we missed the entry sign and entered the site back to front but that is the problem for Herculaneum not Headout who I booked with.
