your experience <br>
Disembark after the short but comfortable journey by train from Rome and immediately head to the site with your tour guide, who is well versed in all things related to Ostia Antica. Learn about the birth of this historic city and let the sights and sounds of it surround you as you walk through it’s streets. Marvel at the mosaics and art but at the well preserved buildings and structures as well, almost echoing with the sounds of former inhabitants.
Listen to stories and anecdotes as you gaze around the amphitheater or visit the former bathhouse. Despite the fact that it’s been almost two millennia, you’ll even be able to see the tavern with a complete marble bar, or a restaurant with frescoes on the wall showing you what can be ordered and even public toilets that you could still sit on. By the time this tour concludes, you’ll practically be Roman yourself!
know before you go
The tour departs at 9:00 AM, 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM everyday except Mondays.
This tour lasts approximately 4 hours.
You will meet your docent outside the cafè situated a few metres to the right when facing the entrance to Piramide Metro Station. Be sure you are facing the white building of the metro station with blue signage, not the adjacent yellow and beige Roma Porta San Paolo Station. The Piramide metro stop is on the B or blue line of Rome's two-line subway. If reaching the meeting point by subway, walk a few meters to the left after exiting the building. The cafè is easily identified by its black cast-iron fence, orange walls, and red tables and chairs for outdoor seating.
What to wear
Comfortable clothes but most importantly, comfortable shoes since this tour is mostly a walking tour.
