Farinelli and the King Tickets

Duration

2 hrs 30 mins

A new drama featuring Oscar and three-time Tony winner Mark Rylance, Farinelli and the King comes to Broadway following sold-out runs at the Shakespeare’s Globe and on London’s West End.

  • 'Farinelli and the King'is inspired by the true story of King Philippe V of Spain and his return to sanity following a brief spell of madness. Relive the true story of the Spanish King and discover a timeless story of regality, insanity and the power of music.

    ### Plot Synopsis

King Philippe V, also called Rylance, is a Spanish king on the edge of madness. His lost mind is a bane for the entire kingdom. The relationship between the king and the castrato is at an all time high, but Farinelli has a tough choice to make - should he return to the hordes of fans outside the castle walls, or forever perform for just the King?

Mark Rylance is a truly great actor. "Farinelli and the King" was an entertaining, stimulating evening of theater. It was mostly a vehicle for Rylance's enormous talent.
