The elephant mud bath is WILD. I was covered in dirt but honestly didn’t care, it’s part of the fun. Handlers were very nice and explained everything, even the silly questions. You can use your. Bali Zoo is CLEAN and the animals are healthy. I loved the lemur encounter—those little guys are thieves, stole my husband’s hat for like 10 mins. Staff got it back, all laughs. Not too crowded. This zoo is the PERFECT size. Not so big you die walking, not tiny either. Kids (7 and 10) loved every second. Don’t skip the bird show—sounds cheesy but was actually super fun. Ice cream. Nice day out. The mud bath with the elephants was cool, but I felt a little self-conscious in front of the group (not a fan of getting THAT dirty). Still, the animals are obviously well. What to expect

Kick off your Behind Closed Doors tour with exclusive, after-hours entry to the zoo in a small group setting — no daytime crowds here. Stroll through the grounds as your expert guide introduces you to animals like orangutans and elephants, sharing stories about their habits and care routines.

As dusk falls, you’ll head deeper into the zoo’s private areas for a rare look at how these animals wind down for the night — from relaxed feeding to evening socializing. It’s a side of the zoo few ever see, and your guide will explain how these twilight moments play a role in conservation. Throughout your tour, sip on complimentary drinks (yes, beer included!) and nibble on light snacks as you soak in the peaceful, after-dark atmosphere. The experience wraps up around 6 PM, leaving you with a fresh perspective on Bali Zoo — and memories you won’t get from a daytime visit.
