Villas: Adriana & d'Este are incredible juxtapositions of each other! Do them in this order! Seeing the 2nd allows you to better imagine what the 1st might have been like in its day! Headout made it SUPER easy to get tickets for both!

The palace of pope was wonderful and the little piazza for lunch had an amazing view of the lake. We ran out of time for the garden but hoping to check it out next time!

Entry was made easy by booking in advance. Thanks to the light crowd, we were able to enter earlier. The secret garden was a bit of a disappointment—small and nothing compared to the care and beauty of the large gardens stretching toward Albano. The palace is very well maintained, with exceptional views in 4 directions: a view over the town of Castel Gandolfo, a view across the valley all the way to the sea, a view of Rome, and a view of the lake.
