We were actually to late because of a double booking of the hotel we were staying. So, we had to look for another hotel and lost a lot of time. At 21.01 the skipper called us, asking where we were. We ended up being late for 13 min and they waited for us. The festival of lights had amazing pieces of art, some were questionable. Overall we had a good time and friendly service.

A great tour! The installations were beautiful and the guide was friendly and knowledgeable. I'm not giving 5 stars because, as a solo participant, I would have appreciated a different seating arrangement to make socializing easier. I didn’t really have a chance to talk to anyone since I was at a table by myself at the very front, with everyone else behind me. Everything else was perfect.

What to bring

What’s not allowed

Outside food and drinks, sharp metallic tools or objects, and large bags or luggage are not permitted on this experience.

Pets are not allowed due to cruise restrictions.

The use of any drugs, including soft drugs, is strictly prohibited on board

Alcohol will not be served to minors (under 18s).

The boat is heated and covered, though outdoor areas may feel chilly during the winter months.

The cruise operates during the Amsterdam Light Festival from November 26, 2026, to January 17, 2027, with multiple evening departures.

Several operators depart from the dock; therefore, be sure to ask for Amsterdam by Boat/Rederij de Nederlanden and check in with your name.

Please arrive 5–10 minutes before your scheduled departure. This gives you enough time to find the correct boat and check in with the host or skipper.

Children aged 2 years and younger travel free of charge.

The cruise operates in rain, snow and cold weather and is only cancelled when conditions make sailing unsafe, such as during an official Code Red weather warning.

The Amsterdam Light Festival route can become extremely busy. Canal traffic may require the captain to sail more slowly and can result in a later arrival than scheduled. We recommend allowing sufficient time before booking another activity directly after your cruise.

Guests who are visibly intoxicated before departure may be refused boarding. Guests who become excessively intoxicated or cause a disturbance on board may be required to leave the vessel.

If you miss your scheduled departure, you are welcome on the next available cruise if seats are still available. Please note that later departures can sell out, so we cannot guarantee a place if you miss your original departure.
