Outside food and drinks, luggage, and large bags are not allowed inside the museum, so pack light.

Flash photography, tripods, drones, and selfie sticks are not permitted inside the venue.

If your ticket includes 1 ticketed exhibition, you can choose your preferred special exhibit at the ticket counter on the day of your visit, subject to availability.

The museum has a parking garage at the 81st Street entrance. The 81st Street–Museum of Natural History subway station is served by the B and C trains.

New York State residents can choose their own admission price with valid ID shown at entry.

The museum offers free admission during the final hour of the day, from 4:30pm to 5:30pm.

US military members and their families can enjoy free general admission during the Blue Star program, running from Armed Forces Day through Labor Day.

Throughout the rest of the year, US military members and one guest also receive complimentary general admission.

Be sure to carry a valid government-issued ID if you’re eligible for complimentary admission to the American Museum of Natural History.
