The David was incredible. I'd made an effort not to look at the copy before I came, and I'm pleased that I could see it so close up. I'm not a huge art fan but this is the one thing I wanted to see. The audio guide isn't that good. It's ok if you can find the art they are referring to, but we spent the afternoon hunting for the ones in the guide- surely the guide should say something like "and on the left you will see...." I got the collect outside tickets, we were early and there was no one in the square. Then when a man with a handful of papers arrived (not by the white flag as I'd been told) I was worried that it might be a con. The tickets are just photocopies cut up. It's not a con but it did feel like one- so maybe they need to consider how professional this part is.

Unfortunately, I had a text the night before telling me we would have to pay for the entry tickets as we had only paid for the tour. This was very perplexing but when we went to the meeting place, we were not asked for more money and were in time to join the group 15 mins before our booked time. Our guide led us straight in past the queue. He spent the whole hour talking about 'David' and the other sculptures nearby with incredible details about Michelangelo and what you can see from each side of David. We were all mesmerised by his calm delivery and even though it was crowded inside, he led us around to little areas where we could see perfectly. It was well worth having the talk as I believe I gained so much than just information.

A lovely and intimate venue compared to the size of the Uffizi gallery, whichvwe also enjoyed. Very high ceilings and beautiful lighting. We prepurchased our tickets to avoid lineups at the Accademie. It was going to be 28 Euros for a self-guided tour and we took advantage of a time-of-day discount (32.50 euros total) for a fully guided tour for a dozen of us. I cannot express clearly enough how valuable our guide was to our experience. Rafael, associated with one of the many on-line groups, was easy to find and we entered right on time. We walked past 100 to 200 people in line waiting for tickets. His coverage of what we were seeing was invaluable and ended the DAVID walk around with a surprising revelation.

We booked the second entry of the day and couldn't believe how hugely long the line for buying tickets was already at that time of the morning! We were so grateful when we meet our entry guide close by and he handed us tickets, then took us to skip the que! We got in in less than 5 minuites! This made our time in the Accademia Gallery so much more of an enjoyable experience and the Gallery is incredible! We left in awe. There is the statue of David, which took our breath away, and seeing once in person spoke louder than the 1000 times we had seen pictures! And then there was so much more we didnt expect. Scupltures and paintings, beauty and skill, history and culture, admiration and inspiration. A must visit if you are in Florence, and an absoltuley memorable way to enjoy a few hours ( or more!)

We got the combo tickets for Uffizi Gallery and Academia Gallery. They were very impressive and worth the waits in line. One thing I'd recommend is definitely get there earlier, 30 mins before your reservation time. You can sometimes get an earlier ticket entry and be mindful of the line ups with the entry times. At Uffizi there were two lines, one for 11:00 and one for 11:15. People who waited in the wrong line up for their reservation had to go to the back of the line. If you are in groups of two, have one person wait in line and then go check to make sure everything is correct.

It was challenging because the person with our tickets didn't have a sign or anything that said would have been helpful to know he had our tickets. After wandering back and forth in front of the museum for 15 minutes, we walked past someone who said something like "anyone else have Headout tickets?" Also the tour operator on the app tickets was EU tours but the name of the tour operator on our printed tickets was white camel tours. It was a confusing experience and I wasn't confident that our tickets would work when we got to the front of the line. But they did.

The museum was great, except we paid for skip the line guided tour and when we arrived we were told that our tour was they over booked and had technical issues. They also said they sent us an email which was untrue. Never received anything. They were going to reschedule us later but were unable to do so because we had other commitments. They finally got us in and refunded us like $28. The refund should of been more.

Loree gave a great tour, it was very descriptive and provided a lot of context for the gallery and what we were going to see, which is what we were hoping for! The crowds were pretty insane but Loree did her best to keep our group together and to get us the best spots for viewing David and other statues by Michelangelo. We learned a lot and felt that this was a very worthwhile experience!
