Important Information
- Keep in mind that it is considered proper etiquette in Dubai to tip for certain services (porters, room cleaners, valets, taxi drivers, and at restaurants).
- The UAE dress code is more relaxed than other areas in the Middle East, but most of Dubai’s residents dress conservatively. Ensure your clothing is tasteful and not too revealing or see-through.
- During Ramadan (roughly between mid-May and mid-June) the city shuts down during the day (restaurants stay closed and it is illegal to smoke, drink and eat in public during this holy timespan). However, the city sparks back to life in the evening.
Best Time to Travel to Dubai
The cooler months of December, January, and February extend a pleasant Mediterranean climate, making it the ideal time to visit Dubai. However, this is the peak tourist season, so rates skyrocket around this time. The city boils from March to September, but the rates fall significantly (as much as 75%). If you don’t mind hopping between air-conditioned hotels, restaurants, and shopping malls, there’s no wrong time to visit Dubai.
