The Aladdin Broadway musical is an adaptation of the world-renowned Disney animated film of the same name. The musical has been showing at the New Amsterdam Theatre since its premiere in 2014. The musical offers a breathtaking spectacle, complete with all-time favorite songs from the original production, new musical numbers, and exceptional visuals. The ingenious set design harks back to an exotic Arabian landscape with shiny minarets and palaces. The lead pair and supporting ensemble together put up a scintillating performance full of color and magic, under the masterful direction of Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw.
The Story
Aladdin is a young street urchin who has fallen in love with Princess Jasmine and wishes to marry her. Alas, a princess like her can only marry a prince. Fortunately, Aladdin discovers a magic lamp with a genie that fulfills three wishes. However, as with any other love story, obstacles stand in the way of his happily-ever-after ending, in the form of the conniving Jaffar. Can he save Jasmine and earn her love?
