Pre booked Skip the line tickets are an excellent way to save time and the hassle of queuing. We travelled to Wieliska by train from Krakov, frequent electric trains, cheap tickets and the train terminates at Wieliska. Pleasant little town for a wander and coffee in a square! The mine is close by and the tour was bery well organised. There is a lot of walking down stairs at the start and a good walk inside. The tunnels are incredible and open out into huge chambers in which there are churches! Return to the surface is by lift! An excellent experience, very informative and well worth a visit!

The tour and guide around the mine was brilliant However the waiting around for a driver in the rain which confirmed to pick us up at 9 and didn't pick up till 10:15 was terrible and put a damper on what would have been an incredible experience No contact form the company no apology I recknomend that you choose a different company to pick up and drop off if I hadn't call both Headout and the company offering the service then I really do t think it would of happened and I do wounder how many other times this has happened- if they are not offering a A1 service get rid use one that can

A must to visit! . There are 800 steps down to the various levels but this is in three stages so it's pretty easy going. The sculptures and rooms carved out are tremendous. There are rest stops with cafes underground. Some people say it's a bit claustrophobic but we didn't feel this at all. The temperature is between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius so it's not cold. Coach transfer was very good and we were informed were we were being picked up well before.

Wow,just wow. The whole experience was fantastic. Well organised, knowledgeable guide( excellent English and so proud of her towns history). A good, brisk tour, she crammed a lot of information in and the time flew. Truly spectacular chapels and visuals( was so impressed with the statue of Pope John Paul II). Would recommend to anyone though legs were sore the next day but well worth it and one of the highlights of our stay in Krakow.

Beautiful experience, a fascinating place full of history, when you go down into the depths your thoughts go to the miners who with their heavy work left a priceless heritage, the sculptures are wonderful, the majestic chapel is something unique. I recommend anyone who goes to Krakow to visit the salt mines.

  • Meet your tour guide at your designated meeting point. Then begin your journey by descending 135 meters below the surface to enter a world shaped out of salt.

    Uncover a salt wonderland

With 800 stairs descending 327 meters, the Wieliczka Salt Mine is a one-of-a-kind subterranean realm. Its nearly 3 km of maze-like galleries are steeped in secrets and legends. Bypass long queues and embark on a guided tour to discover beautiful chambers and sculptures carved entirely out of salt and saline lakes, the likes of which cannot be found aboveground. Gain interesting insights into the methods of salt extraction, old mining tools and machines, and means of transport from your expert guide.

    Underground artistry

Don’t miss out on St Kinga’s Chapel, adorned with salt sculptures and reliefs that were crafted by miners in the 1700s. The glowing crystal chandeliers shine a light on the chapel’s stunning beauty. As you walk through, spot a sculpture of Pope John Paul II and a relief of Da Vinci’s Last Supper, made entirely of salt.

    From depths to daylight

As the tour comes to an end, explore the largest chamber of the mine that hosts balls and sporting events. Then, purchase mementos from the souvenir shop and ride a real mining cart back to the surface.
