We booked the guided English tour to Auschwitz-Birkenau through Headout and had a really good experience overall. Our pickup time was changed from 9:00 AM to 5:30 AM, which was very early, but we had already seen in other reviews that this can happen. We were also informed by email the day before, so it wasn’t a surprise. The meeting point was well organized – several buses were lined up with tour numbers, and staff called out names, so everything went smoothly. We received our tickets right after arriving, the transport was comfortable, and the whole tour was well arranged. We were back in Krakow around 12:30 PM. Overall, the price matched the service, and everything was handled professionally. Definitely recommend!

The Auschwitz-Birkenau tour with Headout was exceptional to say the least. The bus was perfectly on time and well organised in picking everyone up. The driver was lovely and conveyed instructions very clearly. Our tour guide Eva was wonderful, showing a deep respect for the cemetery that Auschwitz is and sharing detailed information in a way that imparted the same sense of reflection in all of us. Walking through the two camps, knowing that so many who walked in the same gates never walked out again, was a surreal and haunting experience that brought history to life in a sickening new way. It was an emotionally challenging visit but undoubtedly important and I'm so glad I did this tour with Headout.

I highly recommend taking a tour rather than going on your own. You'll skip the lines at the entrance, and the guide is essential for understanding the visit, especially at the second camp (the extermination camp), where there is no printed information. It was a moving and very interesting experience. Compared to other cultural tourist attractions, I think this is the most interesting one in Poland (!). However, we would have liked the guide to go a little slower because the information is VERY dense, and for the break to last longer than 10 minutes because we didn't have time to eat anything or even go to the bathroom. It wouldn't be a bad idea to give visitors a bottle of water, as the tour lasts 7 hours and it's a nice gesture.

Our visit to Auschwitz and Birkenau was a deeply moving and necessary experience. The organization through Headout was impeccable; the transportation arrived on time and the guide was extremely respectful and knowledgeable, explaining every historical detail with great sensitivity. Walking through the barracks and seeing the remains of the camps leaves you speechless, but it is essential to understanding history. I highly recommend wearing comfortable shoes because there is a lot of walking, especially in Birkenau. The logistics were flawless, allowing us to focus entirely on the importance of the site. A powerful experience that everyone should have at least once.

A poignant experience. There are no words to describe what you see and feel there. The guided tour in French begins at Auschwitz I, with various exhibitions in some of the converted blocks. You learn a lot and see so many things that are deeply moving. The guide speaks through a microphone that transmits their words so that everyone can listen with their own headphones. The tour continues with Auschwitz II Birkenau, which is just as disturbing due to its size and the scale of these historical events. The guide was excellent: she made sure to provide us with all the necessary information and taught us a lot. I recommend it.

I recently took a guided tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau and wanted to offer some constructive feedback about the experience. First of all, visiting such an important and deeply moving historical site is something I will always value. The significance of the place and the opportunity to reflect on the events that happened there are incredibly important. The guide was knowledgeable and clearly passionate about sharing the history. However, the pace of the tour felt quite rushed. In many of the rooms and exhibits we had only just entered when the group was already being moved along, often because another tour group was waiting to come in behind us. This made it difficult to fully absorb the information and reflect on what we were seeing. Given the gravity of the site, having a little more time in each area would really help visitors appreciate the history and atmosphere. At times it felt as though we were moving from one space to the next without the opportunity to properly take things in. This meant that some of the experience felt a bit fragmented, and it was easy to feel like we had missed important details. Fortunately, I had visited previously and was able to share some of the context and information with my wife after we left, which helped fill in some of the gaps. However, for first-time visitors this could make the experience feel less complete than it should be. Overall, I still appreciate the effort that goes into organising tours at such a busy and significant site. My only suggestion would be to consider allowing slightly more time in key areas or spacing groups a little further apart so visitors have the chance to reflect and fully engage with the history. Thank you for preserving such an important place and continuing to educate visitors about its history

My partner & I enjoyed this tour! The basics: The tour company was organized. They communicated very quickly with any changes, they offered the choice of a lunch (for an additional fee) that was tasty & that could be ate within the short break time. The tour organizer spoke very good English, he was clear & loud with directions. The tour guide was knowledgeable, her English was good. She clearly has a lot of passion for the tour (which is felt). My only complaint is that when we didn't have the headsets, she was difficult to hear. Especially when other groups would come behind us & make noise. I feel like I missed some information because of this. The other complaint was when other groups would not wait for our group. Comparatively, our group would wait a few beats behind other groups (for their guide to finish speaking) out of respect. In particular there was one tour guide who frequently & very rudely would walk into the mix of our group (with her group) & start over-talking our guide. I just found that this was not respectful. Thankfully, our guide finally told her to just move ahead & the problem was solved. It was no fault of our tour organizer or our guide, but it was very disrespectful & something that one should be prepared for. The tour itself: It was a heavy day, but most certainly a tour everyone should take if they are able. I feel blessed for the experience. It was eye opening & thought provoking. At times, it was chilling to the bone. It stirs up a lot of questions for me about why our current world is not learning from the past. Thank you for this experience & I hope this review helps others decide to take the time to understand, feel, & reflect.

My visit to Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II–Birkenau was one of the most intense and thought-provoking experiences I’ve ever had. The guided tour, lasting around three and a half hours, was an emotional journey from beginning to end. What made it especially powerful was the guide’s depth of knowledge and the way he conveyed the history of the site. Knowing that he had personally met survivors, and was able to share their testimonies and perspectives, added a deeply human layer that went far beyond what books or documentaries can offer. The progression of the visit—from Auschwitz I to Auschwitz II–Birkenau—was carefully structured and, in my opinion, perfectly timed. Although 3.5 hours might sound long, it felt appropriate given the weight and importance of what is being seen and understood. Each step seemed to intensify the emotional impact, starting right from the entrance gate and continuing throughout the vast grounds. This is not an easy visit. Spending several hours in such a place can feel overwhelming, and it’s important to be prepared for that. However, it is also an experience I would strongly recommend to everyone at least once in their life. Reading about history provides knowledge, but being physically present in a place like this leaves a much deeper and more lasting impression. It’s a visit that stays with you; quietly, but profoundly.

The guide had valuable information. However, he spoke very softly. At Auschwitz 1, this wasn’t a problem because you were given headphones that allowed you to hear him clearly. But at Auschwitz Birkenau 2, there were no headphones. You really had to stand right next to him to hear him. With a group of 30 people, this wasn’t always feasible. On top of that, I didn’t get to see everything at Auschwitz. We went inside about four blocks. A lot was skipped over. This also applies to Auschwitz Birkenau 2. Unfortunately, you’re not allowed to explore Auschwitz on your own without a tour guide, so you’re tied to the tour guide. There was still so much I wanted to see… Like the large books with all the pages full of names, or the inside of a wooden barrack. I could list a hundred more things like that. On top of that, it was incredibly crowded; I went on a regular Saturday. Not a holiday. Of course, the tour guide can’t do anything about that, but because it was so incredibly crowded. Groups everywhere. People everywhere. You hear tour guides speaking in different languages all around you. You have to keep an eye on where your own group is and watch where you’re walking. Unfortunately, this does affect how you experience everything.

Overall, we’re very satisfied with the tour. The transfer was well organized, and we were picked up from the meeting point on time and exactly as agreed. We were a little annoyed that the pickup time was moved up to 5:20 a.m., since that was pretty early for us and we’d actually specified 9 a.m. when we booked. When we asked about a later time, however, we received a very kind explanation that it couldn’t be done any other way, etc., so it was fine. In return, we were one of the first groups on site and thus had a very smooth and efficient visit without much waiting time. On site, you’re given headphones so you can hear the guide clearly. Our guide explained the background of the concentration camp and the historical developments very well. Both sites, Auschwitz 1 and Birkenau, were presented very well, and the tour left a profound impression on us. Overall, both the organization and the content of the tour were very well done, and we would recommend it to everyone!
