The sights and sounds of Reykjavik are best experienced on a walking tour of the city. Hallgrímskirkja is one of the main attractions on this tour. The stepped concrete facade is modeled to resemble the landscape of Iceland. It is named after a famous 17th Century author and clergyman named Hallgrímur Pétursson. Designed by Henning Larsen Architects, the Harpa Concert Hall managed to bag the Miss van der Rohe Award for Contemporary Architecture in 2013. The Old Harbour of Reykjavik was built almost a century ago. Today, it has grown into a bustling business and tourist hub.

Your tour will begin at the elegant Sun Voyager Sculpture that overlooks the bay. Mount Esja can be seen in the background. Your guide will then lead you to the famous Hallgrímskirkja Church that is known for its stepped concrete facade. Climb to the bell tower of the church and savor the incredible view of the multi-colored rooftops of Reykjavik’s buildings. You can see all the way up to Faxaflói bay and the surrounding islands, mountains, and volcanoes. This will be followed by an informative visit to the Sculpture Park of Einar Jónsson.
