The first leg of the route leads you into the historical heart of the city, where your entrance fee has been arranged in advance.

What to expect

Syntagma Square and the National Garden

Features

• Watch the ceremonial Changing of the Guard at the Hellenic Parliament, observing the Evzones perform their precise routine in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
• Walk through the National Garden and continue toward Hadrian's Arch, as your local escort with deep knowledge of history explains how these monuments connect modern Athens with its classical past.
• Benefit from a private tour with personalized care from your escort, who adjusts the route and commentary to your interests while you explore this part of the city.

Plaka and Anafiotika

Plaka is the historic neighborhood at the foot of the Acropolis, with Anafiotika tucked within it as a hillside enclave.

Features

• Stroll Plaka's lanes and step into hidden Anafiotika, a small neighborhood that feels tucked away above the city, while you hear stories that link these streets to the different eras of Athens.
• Use the flexible itinerary to linger longer in Plaka if you wish, since the private walking tour can be tailored entirely to your pace and preferences.
• Throughout this section of the walk, your local escort continues to provide history-rich context, making full use of the all-year walking guided tour format regardless of season.

Roman Agora, Tower of the Winds, and Hadrian's Library

This cluster of sites showcases Athens in the Roman period, with distinct structures at each stop.

Features

• See the Roman Agora and the octagonal Tower of the Winds from the street and nearby viewpoints, while your escort highlights how these structures served the ancient city.
• Walk by Hadrian's Library and understand its role as a center of learning, using your entrance fee coverage where applicable on the route as arranged in the tour.
• The walking tour of Syntagma, Plaka, Monastiraki, Ancient Agora, and the Temple of Hephaestus allows time here for photographs and questions, keeping the experience focused on your group.

Monastiraki Square and Ancient Agora

Monastiraki Square is one of Athens's most active areas, leading directly toward the archaeological zone of the Ancient Agora.

Features

• Experience the vibrant Monastiraki Square, then continue toward the Ancient Agora as your escort connects the bustling present-day scene with the civic center of classical Athens.
• Walk through the Ancient Agora area, hearing how Athenians once gathered here, while enjoying the continuity of your all-year walking guided tour route.
• Your private tour format ensures that the exploration of Monastiraki and the Ancient Agora stays unhurried, with personalized care for your group and time for discussion.

Temple of Hephaestus

The Temple of Hephaestus stands within the Ancient Agora area and forms the concluding highlight of your route.

Features

• Conclude at the Temple of Hephaestus, a prominent ancient temple that crowns the surrounding landscape and marks the final stop of your walking route.
• Make use of the included entrance fee where relevant on this part of the itinerary, keeping your focus on the temple and its setting rather than on on-the-day logistics.
• The local escort with deep history knowledge rounds off the tour here, answering final questions so that your walking tour of Syntagma, Plaka, Monastiraki, Ancient Agora, and the Temple of Hephaestus feels complete without any shared-group distractions.
