GroupVerified booking6 days ago4/5Fabulous place to visit & definitely worth getting fast track tickets. We were met by a rep from Vivicos travel who was a delight. She was friendly, chatty and so welcoming. She walked us to the entrance of the vatican from their offices and took us right through the checkpoints to the desk inside where we met out guide (can't remember her name, but i know she was from the Philippines, so good at her job). I only wish our guide was as pleasant! She was quite moody & was obviously having a bad day as one of her colleagues hadnt turned up to work. She walked off quickly to.start the tour but i realised nobody could hear her anymore. When I told her she just snapped back & said 'I already asked if you could all hear me'. She didnt actually have her microphone attached so it was totally her fault, but no apology. One lady mentioned she still had problems with her earpiece but was met with a response of 'its not my fault'. That lady eventually left the group. I felt the tour was quite rushed in places, her accent was very strong and she spoke very fast. I spend £400 for an English speaking tour for 4 adults, wish I hadnt bothered with the guide and just made our own way around. That said, it is an amazing place to visit. So glad I booked fast track tickets separately for the basilica without a guide as we took our time and thoroughly enjoyed it as it is absolutely breathtaking. The walk to the domb isn't for the faint hearted, especially with temps in the high 30s, but SO worth it for the views. Great place to visit, but I'd definitely ditch the guided tour and take your time.MMichael H
SoloVerified booking3 weeks ago5/5The Vatican Museums were a highlight of my trip to Italy this year. Exploring this extensive collection at the historic Vatican site is truly fascinating—featuring, for example, original works by Van Gogh, Chagall, Gauguin, Picasso, and the great painter Raphael, as well as Michelangelo’s frescoes. All of this is part of a unique collection that showcases wonderful ancient sculptures. A journey through the entire ancient world with valuable exhibits... There’s the original autographed jersey of Maradona and Pelé, Schumi’s Formula 1 steering wheel, the popes’ state carriages, and their “Papa-Mobiles.” You can also enjoy a cozy cup of coffee and a snack inside the well-maintained open-air restaurant. It was exhausting, but since I wasn’t in a rush, it was very enjoyable. There are benches and places to take a break everywhere. The highlight, of course, is the Sistine Chapel, the site of the secret papal election by the conclave, with Michelangelo’s magnificent paintings. I had purchased a ticket in advance through "HeadOut"; the admission and service were great, and it saved a lot of time since we were admitted immediately instead of having to wait in the usual long line. The museum offers an audio guide for 8 EUR that explains all the sights in a simple yet interesting way. Many rooms are air-conditioned, and you can send greetings to your loved ones directly from the Vatican Post Office. For me, it was a uniquely wonderful experience; including the great tour operator "headout," I can highly recommend it. Best regards, MichaDDario R
GroupVerified booking2 weeks ago5/5The host is located near the skip-the-line entrance to the Vatican museums; the place has a vending machine with food and drinks, restrooms, and fans, so it was very pleasant. We walked for 5 minutes and got in the fast-track lines. Everything was very intuitive, even though we didn’t speak English very well. The staff used gestures that were very helpful in guiding us. The highlight of the tour was seeing the Sistine Chapel. You have to be quiet in there and photography is not allowed; there’s a dress code that’s taken very seriously. You might see people without appropriate attire in the museums, but in the Sistine Chapel they’re very strict. It makes you want to stay there for hours, but there are so many museums, with something for every taste. The corridor leading up to the Sistine Chapel is enormous, filled with artwork on the ceilings and walls. It also seems like the crowd gets bigger the closer you get, as you can see in the photo. Truly wonderful!AAfonso S
FamilyVerified booking4 days ago5/5The visit to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel was one of the most memorable experiences of my trip. I was impressed by the sheer number of works of art, sculptures, and paintings—all very well preserved and steeped in history. Even though there were many visitors, I was still able to appreciate the beauty of the spaces. The most special moment was stepping into the Sistine Chapel and seeing Michelangelo’s famous frescoes in person. It’s a feeling that’s hard to describe and very different from seeing them only in photographs. The entire atmosphere conveys great historical and cultural significance. I recommend this visit to anyone passing through Rome, as it’s a unique place that’s truly worth seeing. Furthermore, the visit helped me better understand the importance of art and history in European culture, making the experience even more enriching and memorable.CCristina E
FamilyVerified bookingLast week5/5This is my first time visiting Rome. The whole group had bought tickets to the Vatican Museum in advance, but I hadn’t because I joined them later. I didn’t know what to do because we were all going to the same place, but I had to buy mine while waiting in a huge line in the sweltering heat. That’s when I saw Headout online and decided to buy a ticket right away. The experience was a godsend because I got lost, and the guy from the agency called me and very kindly told me where the place was. We didn’t have to wait in line—there were three people in charge of the group—and everything went off without a hitch. Honestly, they’re a lifesaver in moments of chaos and stress. Thanks for everything, Headout—especially for giving me a 10% discount to visit the Roman Colosseum. When I come back, I’ll have everything planned out with you guys. Thank you so much!
