You can stay inside for as long as you'd like till closing time, which is 6:00 PM.
November to March
The Vatican Museums open to the public at 9:00 AM. This self-guided tour of the Vatican Museums starts at 11:00 AM and is available on Friday and Saturday. Please reach 20 minutes before the scheduled start time at the conveniently located meeting point (more details to follow) to meet the assistant who will lead you into the Vatican Museums. You can stay inside for as long as you'd like till closing time, which is 6:00 PM.
Please note that entry to the museums is free on the last Sunday of each month.
This specific experience doesn’t entertain any unforeseen circumstances such as unexpected illness, traffic delays or rough weather. Hence, please ensure you are present at the meeting point 20 minutes before the tour begins.
Your self-guided tour of the Vatican Museums begins at Piazza del Risorgimento. Ottaviano is the closest metro station to the square and is a 4-minute walk from there.
Please be dressed appropriately. Sleeveless blouses, miniskirts, shorts, and hats are not permitted. Knees and shoulders MUST be covered for both men and women. Comfortable shoes are recommended.
For visitors with mobility impairment, the Vatican Museums offer free wheelchair hire from the cloakroom.
Please be at the departure point 20 minutes prior to the start of the tour. Late arrivals will not be accommodated. This is a self-guided tour, but audio guides can be rented inside the Museums and are chargeable separately. The tour assistants will help you enter the Vatican Museums and our services will end upon the ticket's delivery at the entrance (lobby) of the Museums. No strollers, umbrellas or bulky bags are allowed inside the Museums.

You will meet your tour guide at a cafe in Piazza del Risorgimento, a small square right outside the walls of the Vatican Museums, a 3-minute walk from the main entrance gate. The cafe, Bar - Caffetteria L’Ottagono, is on the eastern side of the piazza. At the cafe, you will find our staff members wearing a white/pink t-shirt with an "I LOVE ROME" logo on it.
