Even from the outside, I could already imagine what I was going to see, and thanks to the skip-the-line pass, we went right in. The concierges were incredibly kind, but what I saw exceeded my wildest expectations: the amphitheater, the insulae, and the domus with their stunning decorations. Unfortunately, because it was so crowded, I wasn’t able to see the forum… so I’ll have to come back!!!!

Our tour guide, Luciano Leone, was excellent! He was very knowledgeable and passionate about the ruins and history. He did an excellent tour and we learned so much. He covered a lot of Pompeii as well, which was wonderful for us as we toured Pompeii the next day. The ruins were new to us and we left very satisfied. Thank you.

Our guide Luciano Leone was a fun, interesting and knowledgeable guide to take us through Erculano. Our group of six had a 13 year old child who was very interested in archeology. Luciano was sure to include her. We were very pleased with our guide and we received great value for the price. 😙

Herculaneum was fabulous. My experience with the audio guide was horrible. The location was never accurate, when I tried to manually go to a location, it would kick me back to where it thought I was. Thankfully, we picked up a paper map on site. Turned off the audio guide after 30 minutes of utter frustration.

It was all so easy: from buying the ticket to arriving by train in Herculaneum. The site is beautiful; it was in full bloom in June and gives you a sense of incredible peace. The archaeologists’ work is impressive, and it’s definitely worth coming back in a while to see the new areas.

Anna, our guide, was knowledgeable about Herculaneum and its history. She was both matter of fact and emotional, showing emotion about the deaths of those bodies found on site. She answered all questions clearly and was easy to understabd.

This is an experience that should not be missed- Herculaneum is really extraordinary and brings to life how the Romans really lived. It is also exceptionally good value for money. However, it would surely be possible to improve the visitor experience by having an audio guide that clearly links where you are to the audio you are listening to. The numbering on the buildings is inconsistent with the audio guide so it is confusing and frustrating. Also, it is clear that there is a lot more to be said than is in the audio guide- some on-site information would also be great, for example, what the purpose was of the different rooms, etc. Nevertheless loved it :)

Herculaneum was a once in a lifetime experience. It was really well preserved, with whole murals, kitchens and even some wooden doors! The only issue that knocked off a star was unfortunately it wasn't very accessible. I am in a wheelchair and it was a huge struggle. There were accessible ramps, for example down to the skeletons, but it was closed off! It meant that getting to some of the best bits were a struggle. Overall it was an experience that is worth it, definitely.
